Last week, the EverQuest Legends beta ended I had a whole week to wait until launch. I didn’t get too far in the beta, I mostly used it to learn how to play and maybe sort out what race and class I want to roll. I settled on a Gnome, because my 4 year old thinks they’re hilarious. I played a Paladin/Berserker but didn’t get to level 11 to pick my third class. I got the jist of what I was suppose to do and I didn’t want to progress much farther on a character that would be wiped anyway. I’ll probably just go with whatever looks interesting on Tuesday night. I have no history with EverQuest, so I’m going in fairly blind.
When the beta ended, I wanted to play something but I didn’t want to start in on anything new. So I picked Old School Runescape up again while I waited.
I got quite a lot done this week. Stuff I’d been working on a month or so ago. I completed five quests including Regicide (which I wrote about last week), Big Chompy Bird Hunting, Elemental Workshop 1, Horror from the Deep, and Haunted Mine. The way I’ve been questing is sorting the Quest log chronologically and working through the quests that I meet the requirements for in release order.
All the quests I finished this week were from 2004. I only have one more available from that year, Monkey Madness 1, which will be the next quest I take up when I’m ready. Once finished, I’ll be able to buy a Dragon Scimitar which will be my next melee upgrade!

Outside of questing, I was training combat via Slayer Tasks. Slayer is its own skill in which you take on tasks to kill a set number of a certain monster. Having to switch what I’m hunting and what combat style I’m using keeps combat training interesting.
I got my Strength up to 60, my Defense up to 50, and my magic up to 65. Only one more level in Magic before I can enter the Mages’ Guild!
One of my Slayer tasks had me hunting Infernal Mages in the Slayer Tower. They have an extremely accurate magic attack and hit like a truck so I had to make a lot of runs back to the bank in Canifis for food. Luckily, it wasn’t far but it did make the task take quite a while. Towards the end of the task, I was rewarded with one of their rare drops, a Mystic Hat (Dark) which was a much needed upgrade for my Magic equipment.

When I ran out of runes from magic combat, I went to play a few games of Guardians’ of the Rift to get more runes. I like this mini game, it’s just involved enough that it stays interesting for a few rounds and rewards some decent Runecrafting xp.
I’m currently sitting at 63 Runecrafting and only a handful of experience to get to 64. 65 Runecrafting will unlock Death Runes ( I think I also have to do a quest for the unlock too) which will mean I can get them in Guardians’ of the Rift games. Those things are expensive and I’d rather not have to pay for them anymore if I don’t have to.
I’m at a nice stopping point and have several things to work on when I return. Rest assured, I will return to Runescape, I always return.
For now, I’m parking myself at the Karambwan fishing spot so I can replenish my food stores when I feel like it.
I’m looking forward to playing EverQuest Legends tomorrow, presuming the launch goes smoothly. Well….as smoothly as MMO launches can at least.
